iCube: an interactive music environment
In an office environment, workers encounter multiple problems when listening to music. With thin walls between fellow workers and a diverse set of music preferences, workers have difficulty finding music everyone likes. As a result, most workers listen to music through headphones, which are confining and isolating from a collaborative environment. As part of a team of 3, we aimed to create a design solution that allowed workers to easily transport a personal music collection and integrate music within their work.
Through extensive research using focus groups and environment analysis, we focused on the issues that workers in cube environments face. Through ideation, we arrived on a concept that integrated the music player with a typical environment utilizing a chair for music play and special pens for music navigation.
