Whisper: An event service
Discovering interesting events consistently on a day-to-day basis is difficult and time-consuming. People attend events based on its location and whether they have social connection. With this challenge in mind, I along with another user experience designer developed a framework
outlining six phases of events: proposition, polling,
participation, parting, perpetuation, and persuasion. We
also developed the design of Whisper, a web-based event
service that addresses the planning and organizational
challenges identified in this framework
Continuing at Carnegie Mellon a project I initially started at UC Berkeley, I further developed a service that finds interesting events. During the conceptual stages of the project, we focused on a location-based mobile application that found nearby events. Around that, I worked with Professor Jason Hong to understand user concerns of privacy and needs that were not met with current mobile applications. At Carnegie Mellon, I transitioned the event service to a web-based service that focused on eliminating the challenge of organizing an event and inviting interested people.
